Mercato Solutions Ltd is the data controller (contact details below). This means Mercato Solutions Ltd decides how your personal data is processed and for what purposes.

Information Collected
Mercato Solutions Ltd collects a range of information about you. This includes:
- Your name, address, and contact details, including email address and telephone number;
- Details of your qualifications, skills, experience, and employment history;
- Information about your current level of remuneration, including benefit entitlements;
- Whether or not you have a disability for which the Company needs to make reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process;
- Information about your entitlement to work in the UK;
- Equal opportunities monitoring information, including information about your ethnic origin, sexual orientation, health, and religion or belief.
Mercato Solutions Ltd collects this information in a variety of ways, such as:
- Application forms, CVs, or resumes;
- Obtained from your passport or other identity documents;
- Collected through interviews or other forms of assessment.
Data will also be collected from third parties, such as references supplied by former employers, information from employment background check providers, and information from criminal records checks if relevant to your role.
Why We Process Personal Data
Mercato Solutions Ltd needs to process data to:
- Take steps, at your request, prior to entering into a contract with you;
- Enter into a contract with you;
- Comply with legal obligations, such as checking eligibility to work in the UK.
Mercato Solutions Ltd has a legitimate interest in processing personal data during the recruitment process and for keeping records. This processing allows the Company to manage the recruitment process, assess candidate suitability, and respond to legal claims.
For health information, this is processed to make reasonable adjustments for candidates with disabilities. Special categories of data for equal opportunities monitoring are processed with your explicit consent.
If your application is unsuccessful, Mercato Solutions Ltd may keep your personal data on file for future opportunities, but only with your consent.
Data Access
Your information will be shared internally with:
- HR and recruitment team members;
- Interviewers involved in the recruitment process;
- Managers in the business area with a vacancy;
- IT staff if necessary.
Data will not be shared with third parties unless your application is successful. In that case, data will be shared with:
- Former employers for references;
- Employment background check providers;
- Disclosure and Barring Service for criminal records checks, if relevant.
Mercato Solutions Ltd will not transfer your data outside the European Economic Area.
Data Protection Measures
Mercato Solutions Ltd takes data security seriously, implementing internal policies to prevent data loss, misuse, or unauthorized access.
Data Retention
If your application is unsuccessful, data will be held for 6 months post-recruitment. If you consent, it may be held for an additional 6 months for future opportunities. Upon expiration of these periods, your data will be deleted or destroyed.
If successful, your data will be transferred to your personnel file and retained throughout your employment, with specific retention periods provided in a new privacy notice.
Unsolicited CVs received when not recruiting will be deleted, and you will be informed.
Your Rights
As a data subject, you have rights including:
- Access and obtain a copy of your data;
- Request changes to incorrect or incomplete data;
- Request deletion or cessation of processing data;
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- Request temporary cessation of processing if data is disputed.

If you believe your rights have not been complied with, you can complain to the Information Commissioner.
Data Provision
You are not obligated to provide personal data during the recruitment process, but failure to do so may impact your application. Providing information for equal opportunities monitoring is voluntary.
Automated Decision-Making
Recruitment processes are not based on automated decision-making.
